Submission Guidelines for Featured New Writer - September 2025:

• Send an email to mck@authormcking.com with subject line: September 2025 Submission

  • Copy and paste in the body of the email: one poem (no more than one page assuming that (hopefully) your work is originally typed in Word), double spaced, size 12 - Courier font, or one story (no more than 10 pages), double spaced, size 12 - Courier font.

  • No attachments! Please DO NOT include photos. I do not need to see what you look like in any sense, any emails with attachments (be careful about signatures) will be auto-flagged, auto-deleted, auto-denied, auto-shamed, you-auto-know. If you place a photo in the body of the email, it could still show as an attachment (due to exchanges in metadata). Do not get clever.

  • Please include your name in the body of your email, no need for a cover letter. If your work is accepted, I will ask for a short Bio, which is a way for the readers to know you. Use ChatGPT for assistance, you know you want to, lol.

  • No reading fee. No financial reward if your work is accepted, only the joy of being showcased on my website for as long as you want or until I decide it’s time for something new (I plan to make this a seasonal feature and likely, will have a new artist or writer for each season, assuming I receive more submissions). Accepting simultaneous submissions unless the other publisher/party-hearty has already acquired some rights to your art. This is bad news bears. No previously published works, please. This opportunity is primarily for new writers looking for a platform!

  • On your Featured Page, I can embed links to your social media posts promoting your artistry. I reserve the right to decline if it doesn’t fit my style. Nothing pornographic or weird anime stuff (it’s cool that you like it but not for this website, thanks).

  • DO NOT SUBMIT anything that depicts minors or violent acts/crimes against humanity stuff. This really should go without saying, guys.

  • PLEASE, for the love of god and your mother, DO NOT send anything showing/telling harm to animals, people or nature, you will be blocked and banned. Read the room. That type of “art” does not fit this website.

  • No Political pieces or essays. No feminist propaganda, no anti-female MGTOW. Nothing offensive or inflammatory. Forgive me. No romance. No Westerns.

  • No overtly Religious works, please. Author M.C. K. is a humanitarian first and foremost, while I respect your creator, this website does not promote a specific religion or spiritual practice.

  • This opportunity is only open to new writers or works that have not been published elsewhere. I appreciate if you have published your own work and or have a completed piece available for sale, however, at this time, you do not need my help it seems, so please make space for a new voice!   • I cannot read nor review/promote your completed published book, please do not ask. This Featured Page is for a new writer, as a way to introduce new artistry to the scene.

• What I am looking for:

  • Tasteful poems which offer a fresh outlook on existentialism.

  • Heroic journeys of a protagonist finding their own version of hope in this world.

  • Genres: Mainstream Fiction, Science Fiction, Historical Fictional dramas. Get us to think deep, dream sublimely, find meaning. Think: Cormac McCarthy or Jack Kerouac. Nothing similar to Twilight or Hunger Games etc. stuff.
